Asparagus stems

Ingredients:

16 fresh asparagus

salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 tblsp grated lemon peel

8 slices puff pastry

1 egg yolk

1 tablespoon sesame seed

How to prepare:

Peel the asparagus, cut to 20 cm long. Put the asparagus in boiling water, add salt. Cook the asparagus about 3 minutes. Skim from the pan and chill with cold water. Dry the aspargus and divide each in 2 parts of 10 cm.

Preheat the oven to 200C/395F (fan oven 180C/360F).

Mix salt, black pepper and grated lemon peel and coat the asparagus.

Beat the egg yolk with 2 teaspoons water. Half the slices puff pastry, place 1 asparagus (=2 pieces) in the middle. Fold the puff pastry over the asparagus and stick the edges together with some egg. Close the packages well.

Place on a greased sheet, coat with the egg-mixture and sprinkle with sesame seed.

Bake the aspargus packages golden brown in 15-20 minutes.
