Spicy cake (Dutch kruidkoek)

Ingredients:

150 gr hover for conversion butter or margarine

150 gr hover for conversion sugar

3 eggs

100 gr hover for conversion flour

50 gr hover for conversion cornstarch

2 teaspoons baking powder

pinch salt

1 teaspoon ginger powder

1 teaspoon cookie spices

100 gr hover for conversion grated dark chocolate

100 gr hover for conversion ground hazelnuts

30 gr hover for conversion chopped candied citron

30 gr hover for conversion sliced candied orange peel

extra:

oven, cake pan 1-1.5 liter

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 180°C/360°F (fan oven 160°C/310°F).
Beat the butter with sugar and eggs creamy.
Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt and spices well and add the mixture spoon by spoon at the butter, while whipping well.
Add the chocolate, hazelnuts, candied citron and candied orange peel.
Grease a cake pan, sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
Fill with the batter and bake the spicecake 45-60 minutes.
When the cake is ready: wrap, while still hot, in aluminium foil and let rest for 24 hours (the taste will only get better).
